Bayesian Light Source Separator (BLISS)

Source

BLISS is a Bayesian method for deblending and cataloging light sources in astronomical images. It is developed by the Probabilistic Machine Learning Research Group at the University of Michigan. The method is based on a generative model of the astronomical imaging process, and uses a variational Bayesian inference algorithm to estimate the posterior distribution over the number of sources, their properties, and the background noise.
